EVERY CHILD A READER AND WRITER INITIATIVE

Since 2000, the Every Child a Reader and Writer initiative has brought intensive early literacy professional development to districts by focusing on the teaching of writing, high-level standards and content, and ongoing professional development for teachers, coaches, principals, and district administrators.

The Noyce Foundation aims to help a number of schools and districts to develop clear and compelling examples of a comprehensive system of literacy instruction where all children are competent and effective readers and writers. Together with these exemplar schools, we have worked to create opportunities and strategies for more schools to improve in dramatic ways by learning from these pioneers. Participants in this initiative are committed to helping other schools and districts.
