LITERACY TEACHER LEADERSHIP TRAINING 1

Literacy Teacher Leadership Training 1 is an introductory series of grade-level specific sessions for teachers on writers workshop and writing genres. Participants will attend four all-day, grade level specific seminars. See more information about the structure of the course and learning outcomes for participants.

REGISTRATION

The series is open to K-5 teachers in Partner Districts. A specified number of seats is allocated to schools and registration is handled through each districts' designated contact.

REQUIREMENTS

Teachers who register need to agree to meet the following requirements:

  • Have an intention to implement writers workshop in their classroom.
  • Read all assigned readings and come prepared to participate in discussion.
  • Attend all four sessions; districts or schools will have to cover the substitute costs for participating teachers.
  • Work with their principals to obtain copies of any tradebooks needed to implement the program.
  • Implement all assigned studies (units).

The Noyce Foundation will provide the required texts for all grades.

HOMEWORK

Prior to the first session participants will receive a confirmation email which will include their homework assignment, if any. After that, participants will be informed, during each session, of the homework that is required for the following session.
