PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

The Every Child a Reader and Writer Initiative offers the following professional development opportunities for our Core and Partner School Districts.

CURRICULUM COACHES

Each Core District has designated one coach to contribute to the development of professional development materials for coaches and teachers, working in collaboration with other coaches and Noyce Foundation staff.

LITERACY TEACHER LEADERSHIP TRAINING (LTLT)

An introductory series of grade-level specific sessions for teachers on writers workshop and writing genres. (Partner Districts only)

SECOND YEAR TEACHER LEADERS

Teacher Leaders who completed year one professional development in 2006-07, are eligible to participate for a second year.

TEACHER INDUCTION

Core Districts will conduct their own induction courses for teachers.

uNIT DESIGN

A series of advanced seminars for teachers from Partner Districts. Participants will work in grade-level teams to design, teach and critique two four-week units of study: narrative writing and informational writing. Core Districts will provide this course for their own teachers, with planning support from Noyce Foundation staff.

COACHES STUDY GROUP

Coaches with two or more years of experience in ECRW literacy coaching are invited to participate in this study group.
